Gynecomastia: Can I have the incisions made at the armpits to hide the scars better?
According to Dr Baranski, the risk of potential complications is a lot higher if the gynecomastia would be performed with incisions at the armpits. With a long pair of scissors the surgeon then snips the gland out through these incisions.
Dr Baranski prefers incisions made around the areolas, which is less complicated and safer for the patient. Furthermore, the risk of scarring is not very high with incisions around the areolas because potential scars are less visible on the edges of the areolas.
